Dear Colleagues

There is excitement and anticipation in the air as JAMCOPY prepares to welcome to Jamaica in October, delegates to the IFRRO AGM 2008 which is being held in the Caribbean for the first time.  The timing is most appropriate, coinciding as it does with JAMCOPY's celebration of its tenth anniversary.  Hosting the IFRRO AGM therefore represents a "coming of age" for JAMCOPY.

We will be celebrating too, the establishment of a "family" of four RROs in the Caribbean - the result of collaborative effort between IFRRO, WIPO and Access Copyright and in which JAMCOPY played a significant role.  Our initial cross-border collaboration in key operational areas will hopefully lead in the not too distant future, to full integration even as CARICOM countries move to establish a single market and economy.

JAMCOPY is pulling out all the stops to ensure optimum facilities and arrangements are in place for a successful AGM.  The elegant upscale Ritz Carlton Hotel & Spa in Jamaica's tourism capital Montego Bay provides the perfect setting for both accommodation and conference facilities.  Montego Bay is located on Jamaica's north Coast, famous for its white sand beaches, scenic landscape and wide range of resort facilities and services.

We are looking forward to a large turnout for this year's AGM. Be sure to come a few days early or stay on a few days after the AGM to explore the sights and sounds of our picturesque towns and country scenery as well as meet our visitor-friendly people.  And we are expecting to welcome your family members and friends for whom various activities, tours, shopping and beaches will be available.  Children too are welcome as there are a host of kid-friendly activities available at both hotels where accommodation is being provided.

So, come enjoy our tasty jerk cuisine, famous Appleton rums and Blue Mountain Coffee. See the spectacular Dunn's River Falls or watch the sun set over Negril's Seven Mile White Sand beach.  Dance to our pulsating reggae rhythms on Montego Bay's Hip Strip where the action never stops.  Come to Jamaica and feel alright.
